Job summary

WSP is seeking a Mechanical Designer to craft plumbing systems for complex buildings across multiple U.S. locations. The role emphasizes high-quality, sustainable solutions aligned with client objectives and industry standards.

Responsibilities include drawing, detailing, cost estimation in AutoCAD and Revit, and adherence to QA/QC protocols. Collaboration with engineers, architects, and other disciplines is essential to deliver coordinated designs.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field.
  • 9+ years of experience in plumbing design for building systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit; familiarity with plumbing codes and standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Prepare detailed drawings and cost estimates using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Review and apply client‑specific and internal drafting standards to ensure full compliance and consistently high quality deliverables.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other disciplines to ensure coordinated and efficient designs.
  • Follow established quality control protocols—ensuring all drafting work complies with documented QA/QC procedures and corrective action requirements.
  • Support project development from concept through construction, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Incorporate future‑ready solutions and sustainable practices into plumbing designs.
  • Participate in site surveys and inspections to verify existing conditions and support design accuracy.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and best practices in plumbing design.

Join our Industrial Center of Excellence at WSP and contribute to designing innovative plumbing systems for complex building projects. We are seeking a Mechanical Designer who is passionate about delivering high‑quality, sustainable solutions that meet client objectives and industry standards.

Locations

This role can be based in Boise, ID; Overland Park, KS; Madison, WI; Austin, TX; or Houston, TX.

Compensation

Expected hourly (all locations): $35.15 – $51.25. The company reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
