Job summary

Dixie Tech is seeking a Plumbing Apprenticeship instructor to bring years of industry experience into the classroom and labs in sunny St. George, Utah. This full-time role offers an engaging mix of lectures, hands-on training, and meaningful student outcomes.

You will develop curricula, coordinate with adjunct instructors and industry partners, maintain accreditation standards, and support student placement and licensure readiness while upholding safety and FERPA guidelines.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in industry required
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Associate degree or Industry Recognized Certificate Program
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Teaching/training experience preferred
• Contacts with local industry preferred
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office/Google Suite applications
• Strong communications and presentation skills

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging lectures and hands-on lab instruction.
• Develop and update curriculum, syllabi, and lesson plans to ensure industry-relevant, effective, and skills-based learning experiences and outcomes.
• Establish and communicate clear objectives and well-defined competencies for the program and all learning activities.
• Ensure the classroom and lab are prepared for daily learning activities
• Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments in a timely manner
• Structure classes in Canvas to support student learning
• Observe, evaluate, and record students’ performance and development, and provide appropriate and helpful feedback.
• Conduct and document student reviews with students on a regular basis.
• Involve Student Services when problems develop before they become critical
• Manage student behavior by establishing and enforcing appropriate rules and procedures
• Ensure objectives for all program students are reflected on each syllabus and match the module sign-offs in the Student Information System
• Ensure that all student data is updated on a real-time basis and that students are retained, complete, graduate, pass licensure exams, and find placements
• Meet or exceed performance metrics for the program established by leadership
• Maintain integrity and confidentiality, FERPA compliance
• Stay up-to-date in industry advancements and adjust curriculum accordingly
• Assist with admissions standards and recruiting to fill program cohorts
• Assure safety standards comply with guidelines and maintain records
• Model a professional environment in classroom and lab
• Schedule industry professionals for presentations and training
• Supervise adjunct instructors and participate in department teamwork
• Help develop industry partnerships and student employment
• Document COE accreditation evidence and maintain meetings with OAC teams
• Participate in program budgeting and inventory management
• Pursue professional development and improve teaching skills
• Maintain inventory and budget with program director
