Job Responsibilities:

As a Senior Plumbing - Fire/Life Safety Engineer, you will perform design engineering and provide system design support by working closely with all MEP disciplines to ensure well-coordinated designs. This role also involves consulting and interfacing with clients, architects, vendors, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Conducting field surveys, system assessments, and system commissioning
• Attending coordination meetings and job sites
• Performing calculations under Supervising Engineer/Designer
• Producing clear and concise drawings consistent with client requirements and firm standards
• Applying Codes and Standards to all designs (including working drawings and specifications)
• Conducting peer reviews and providing QA/QC oversight
• Assisting in business development by expanding current client relationships, cross-selling Syska services, and attending industry and client events

This is a great opportunity for a Senior Plumbing - Life Safety Engineer with experience in various facility types including Commercial, Industrial, Institutional, and Governmental buildings, as well as critical facilities, storage facilities, and large FLS infrastructure projects. You should have a solid knowledge of Plumbing systems design, experience in Fire Alarm, Standpipe/Sprinkler, VESDA, and Clean Agent system design, and familiarity with Fire Safety Plans, Fire, Smoke & Egress Modeling, and FLS Commissioning.

• Bachelor's Degree in Fire Protection, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 8-10 years of field experience in Fire Protection, Fire Alarm System design, and Fire/Life Safety consulting.
• At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of ICC, NFPA, and local codes and standards; NYC codes knowledge required.
• NICET certification in Fire Alarm or Fire Protection systems preferred, or ability to obtain within 2 years.
• Current P.E. or Fire Protection P.E.; or FE registration preferred, or ability to obtain within 2 years.
• Multistate licensure preferred or ability to obtain within 2-4 years.
• Ability to obtain security clearance from the Federal Government (project-specific).
• Ability to work independently or in a team effectively in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
• Willingness to travel to various project sites and meet deadlines.
• Experience using AutoCAD-MEP and REVIT for design development.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
