Job summary

Arup in Chicago is seeking a Senior Plumbing Engineer to design plumbing and fire protection systems across a variety of market sectors. You will prepare drawings, schedules, and riser diagrams for SD packages and develop Revit models for DD and construction documents.

The role requires 8+ years of experience, familiarity with relevant codes, and the ability to deliver high-quality work on schedule while coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, architectural, civil, or environmental engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in designing and specifying plumbing and fire protection systems.
• Familiarity with UPC, IPC, IBC, ASPE standards, LEED Water Efficiency, TDSHS, FGI, and NFPA.

Responsibilities

• Design plumbing and fire protection systems for buildings across market sectors.
• Prepare SD package sketches and narratives; develop Revit drawings for DD and construction documents.
• Perform system design calculations and code analysis; maintain design records.
• Select and specify equipment for building systems.
• Coordinate with engineers and designers across disciplines.
• Attend meetings with clients to establish requirements and resolve issues.
• Incorporate sustainable and resilient design strategies.
