Job summary

Arup is seeking a Senior Plumbing Engineer to join our Chicago office to design plumbing and fire protection systems for diverse building types. You will produce SD/DD drawings, perform calculations, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver technically complex facilities.

Required a minimum of 8 years’ experience in plumbing and fire protection design, with Revit proficiency. The role offers mentoring opportunities and a path toward PE/CPD credentials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, architectural, civil, or environmental engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in the design and specification of plumbing and fire protection systems.
• Familiarity with UPC, IPC, IBC, ASPE standards, LEED Water Efficiency, TDSHS, FGI, and NFPA.
• Proficiency in Revit for developing design drawings and 3D models (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Design plumbing and fire protection systems for buildings; prepare drawings and schedules.
• Develop SD/DD drawings and Revit models for construction documents.
• Perform design calculations, code analysis, and maintain design records.
• Select equipment and prepare system reports and specifications.
• Coordinate with engineers and designers across disciplines and with clients.
• Mentor junior plumbing engineers and collaborate with city officials as needed.
• Incorporate sustainable design strategies and support construction administration.
