Job summary

WSP is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Plumbing Engineer for the San Francisco, CA office to lead plumbing design on complex building projects across multiple sectors. The role involves technical leadership, client interaction, and mentorship of engineering teams, with responsibilities spanning design, delivery, QA/QC, and business development.

The candidate will oversee planning and specification of plumbing systems, including storm drainage, water supply, sanitary, gas and medical gases,

Qualifications

• Strong leadership and technical oversight for plumbing systems on large-scale buildings.
• Ability to mentor engineers and manage multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication and client management skills.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam and related design tools.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead for plumbing design on large, complex projects.
• Lead planning, design and specification of plumbing systems (storm drainage, domestic water, sanitary, gas, medical gases, specialty systems).
• Oversee project delivery: quality, schedule, budget, client satisfaction.
• Develop construction documents, calculations, reports, specs, and studies.
• Coordinate with architects, structural/mechanical/electrical/fire protection teams across all project phases.
• Mentor junior engineers and BIM staff; participate in QA/QC and pursuits.
