Job summary

Genesis AEC in Center Square, PA is seeking a Senior Plumbing Engineer to lead plumbing design, develop contract documents, and ensure code-compliant systems across life sciences projects.

Responsibilities include preparing calculations, drawings, and P&IDs, surveying existing systems, and guiding junior staff while coordinating with project teams to meet client needs on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
• 7-10+ years’ experience preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize projects, and adjust work against tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare project deliverables and contract documents, including calculations, equipment and pipe design, and drawings.
• Develop system designs using code compliance and industry standards.
• Survey existing piping systems and examine field conditions to support project completion.
• Design and engineering of plumbing systems: sanitary waste/vent, laboratory/process waste/vent, storm water, domestic/hot/cold-water, natural gas, tempered water.
• Produce floor plans, details, and P&IDs using AutoCAD, Revit and Plant 3D.
• Oversee junior staff and provide leadership and guidance.
• Assist in construction administration by answering RFIs and reviewing shop drawings.
• Attend project meetings.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

As a Plumbing Engineer, you will prepare project deliverables and contract documents, including calculations, equipment and pipe design, and drawings. You utilize your knowledge of code compliance requirements and industry standards to develop system designs. You will survey existing piping systems and examine field conditions as required to support the development and completion of projects. In-depth knowledge of general building construction for piping systems is essential. A typical day includes:

• Review project scope and obtain deliverables and due dates
• Review building codes, client standards, and industry guidelines
• Review equipment lists for relevant process utility design requirements
• Perform engineering calculations
• Design and engineering of plumbing systems: sanitary waste and vent, laboratory/process waste and vent, storm water, domestic and laboratory hot and cold-water systems, natural gas systems, and tempered water
• Prepare contract documents using AutoCAD, Revit, and Plant 3D (produce floor plans, details, and P&IDs)
• Oversee junior staff and provide leadership and guidance
• Provide construction administration (assist in answering RFIs and reviewing shop drawings)
• Attend project meetings

Minimum Qualifications

• BS/BA in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
• 7-10 + years’ experience preferred
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize projects, and adjust work against tight deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

• EIT or recent PE registration is a plus, but not required
