Job summary

Interface Engineering is a 100% employee-owned firm offering a hybrid work model with a minimum of 2 in-office days per week in Oakland, CA. The role focuses on lead plumbing system design for diverse MEP projects, with opportunities for career growth and a path to leadership within a collaborative team.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in MEP plumbing design/consulting, strong project and team leadership skills, and solid knowledge of IPC/UPC/IBC standards and building codes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience equivalent to a degree.
  • 10+ years' experience in MEP plumbing design/consulting
  • Team leadership/management experience
  • Project management experience in the MEP space
  • Working knowledge of IPC/UPC and IBC standards
  • Complete understanding of building codes
  • Commuting distance to Chicago, IL

Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for plumbing system selection, engineering & design
  • Preparation of Plumbing drawings, sketches, analysis, specifications, and calculations
  • Demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Providing management and oversight of plumbing design support staff
  • Providing construction administration & site observations related to your projects.
  • Delivering exemplary service and support to team members and clients.
  • Supporting overall project management to our MEP team leaders.

Key Responsibilities

What You'll Bring:
Required
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience equivalent to a degree.
  • 10+ years' experience in MEP plumbing design/consulting
  • Team leadership/management experience
  • Project management experience in the MEP space
  • Working knowledge of IPC/UPC and IBC standards
  • Complete understanding of building codes
  • Thorough design system knowledge
  • Commuting distance to Chicago, IL
Preferred
  • A Professional Engineering License (or equivalent experience)
  • CPD Certification
