Job summary
Cepheid, a Danaher operating company, is seeking a Senior Automation Controls Engineer to design and implement PLC-based controls and vision systems for high-volume manufacturing in Newark. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliant equipment performance and successful validation.
The role emphasizes hands-on programming, system integration, and documentation, with a salary range of $140,000–$155,000 and bonus eligibility.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years related experience or higher degree with related experience.
- Hands-on PLC/HMI programming and troubleshooting experience.
- Experience with Cognex In-Sight/VisionPro and deep learning where applicable.
- Experience with IEC 61131-3-aligned PLC software and safety I/O.
- Strong background in software validation, equipment qualification, and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Design, program, test, and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems, HMIs and interfaces.
- Implement and integrate vision inspection systems (Cognex In-Sight/ VisionPro).
- Support system commissioning, upgrades, validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) and production troubleshooting.
- Adhere to established controls, vision, and validation standards.
- Participate in design reviews, electrical design and code reviews, cross-functional problem solving.
