BMW Manufacturing Company in Upstate South Carolina seeks a seasoned Controls Engineer to lead PLC and SCADA design and support. You will partner with cross-functional teams to standardize PLCs, enhance system reliability, and support new model introductions.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in IT or engineering (Electrical/Computer/Software preferred) or related technical field with equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in a highly automated manufacturing environment (automotive preferred).
• 5+ years of experience programming/troubleshooting PLCs in manufacturing processes (Siemens TIA Portal/S7).
• 5+ years with PLCs, communication buses, HMIs, safety PLCs, drives, motors, schematics, and related control system components.
• 5+ years of MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint).
• 5+ years of professional communication skills (written, verbal, presentation).
• 3+ years of PC hardware troubleshooting, Networking and TCP/IP.

Responsibilities

• Leads and provides technical design support for PLCs, controls, and SCADA implementations and interfaces to SCADA systems.
• Collaborates with specialists to develop design standards and specifications for PLCs and control systems.
• Plans and implements improvements to PLCs and control systems to improve process capability, uptime, and reliability.
• Participates in cross-functional project teams supporting PLCs, control systems, and SCADA activities.
• Provides technical support for PLCs, networks, SCADA, and control systems during new model introductions and series production resolutions.
