Job summary

DIA Packaging, Inc. in Schaumburg, IL is seeking a PLC Control Engineer to join our on-site engineering team. You will design electrical control systems for automated machinery and develop PLC programs and HMIs.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, has extensive hands-on control experience (35 years), is proficient with AutoCAD Electrical and PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), and can coordinate across departments to deliver reliable, safe automation solutions.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
35 years of hands-on experience in control system design and automation.
Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical.
Strong PLC programming knowledge (Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
Experience with HMI development and industrial protocols.
Familiarity with NEC/NESC standards and UL panel design.
Strong troubleshooting and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain electrical control systems and panel layouts for automated machinery and equipment.
Develop PLC programs and HMI interfaces.
Create wiring diagrams and BOMs using AutoCAD/SolidWorks Electrical.
Perform wiring, panel assembly, testing, and commissioning.
Collaborate across engineering and production for integration.
Troubleshoot electrical issues and support machine builds.
Ensure safety and NEC/NESC compliance.
Support continuous improvement in automation.
