Position Overview

This position is responsible for the preparation of right-of-way plats, plans, legal descriptions, and relateddocuments and drawings concerned with land acquisition and condemnation. It is also responsible for the reviewof plats and plans prepared by consultants.


Essential Functions


  • Assures that preparation of plats and plans and related documents prepared by in-house or consultant staff are prepared accurately.

  • Assures that all time frames established for the preparation of plats and plans are adhered to.

  • Assures right-of-way strip maps are accurate.

  • Assures that all required survey data is properly requested and reviewed.

  • Assures that all plats, legal descriptions, title work, and survey data is completed in a timely manner to minimize delays in processing excess land requests.

  • Assures that all court displays, as required for condemnation trials, are prepared accurately and within established time frames.

  • Performs all duties in compliance with departmental rules, regulations, and safety work practices. Performsall duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Current license as a Professional Land Surveyor in Illinois.

  • Four years of experience in the practice of land surveying.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • Supervisory experience.


Conditions of Employment


  • Valid driver's license.

  • Occasional district-wide travel.

  • Successful completion of a background screening.
