Job summary

New York Technology Partners seeks a Senior Platform Specialist to architect and engineer standardized middleware platforms across Linux-based VM, bare-metal, and container environments.

You will own the full product lifecycle from packaging and engineering through distribution, automated provisioning, configuration, upgrades, patching, and operational support, while helping the bank transition middleware infrastructure to AWS EC2.

Qualifications

• Strong product-level engineering experience with middleware.
• Hands-on experience with IBM WebSphere Application Server and WebSphere Liberty is advantageous.
• Experience with Linux administration and Java runtime standards.

Responsibilities

• Architect and engineer standardized middleware platforms across Linux-based VM, bare-metal, and container environments.
• Own the full product lifecycle: packaging, engineering, distribution, automated provisioning, configuration, upgrades, patching, and operational support.
• Design equivalent middleware infrastructure on AWS EC2 as workloads transition from on-premises to cloud.
• Develop provisioning and configuration automation using Terraform and Ansible.
• Define platform standards, deployment patterns, guardrails, and operational controls.
• Support the transition from Oracle Java to OpenJDK.

Job description

As a Senior Platform Specialist, you will architect and engineer standardized middleware platforms across Linux-based VM, bare-metal, and container environments. You will own the full product lifecycle for these platforms, from packaging and engineering through distribution, automated provisioning, configuration, upgrades, patching, and operational support, while helping the bank transition middleware infrastructure to AWS EC2.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

• Architect and engineer standardized middleware platforms across Linux-based VM, bare-metal, and container environments
• Own the full product lifecycle: packaging, engineering, distribution, automated provisioning, configuration, upgrades, patching, and operational support
• Establish clear boundaries between middleware product engineering and application-level configuration
• Design equivalent middleware infrastructure on AWS EC2 as the bank transitions workloads from its internal, on-premises cloud
• Develop reusable provisioning and configuration automation using Terraform and Ansible
• Define platform standards, deployment patterns, product guardrails, and operational controls
• Support the transition from Oracle Java to OpenJDK
• Evaluate complex product features and configuration options against security, resiliency, performance, and supportability requirements

Required Experience:

• Strong product-level engineering experience with several of the following:
• IBM WebSphere Application Server and WebSphere Liberty
• IBM HTTP Server and Apache HTTP Server
• Red Hat JBoss
• Oracle WebLogic
• Deep knowledge of Java middleware architecture and Linux administration
• Hands-on experience with Ansible for middleware installation, configuration, patching, and lifecycle automation
• Hands-on experience with Terraform for repeatable infrastructure provisioning, particularly on AWS
• Experience engineering middleware on VMs, bare metal, and container platforms
• AWS experience, particularly deploying and operating middleware on EC2 without relying on managed middleware services such as Elastic Beanstalk
• Experience with Java runtime standards, including Oracle Java and OpenJDK
• Ability to provide architectural leadership while remaining hands-on with middleware products
