Job summary

Motion Recruitment Partners is seeking a Senior Platform & Security Engineer to join its Platform Engineering team on a contract basis in Boston, MA. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and supporting secure cloud infrastructure with strong IaC, Kubernetes, and CI/CD capabilities.

The ideal candidate will own complex problems, drive solutions with minimal supervision, and utilize AI-assisted development tools while enforcing rigorous security standards.

Qualifications

• : Must have at least 10+ years in Platform/DevOps/SRE/Cloud/Systems Eng or related field.
• : Enterprise production workloads in AWS experience required.
• : Terraform and/or OpenTofu expertise required.
• : Strong IaC experience.
• : Kubernetes deployment, administration, support, and troubleshooting.
• : Docker and/or Podman experience.
• : Python and Bash scripting.
• : CI/CD pipelines with GitHub and Jenkins.
• : Ansible and Packer experience.
• : Strong Linux systems administration.
• : Security controls incl. hardening, vulnerability mgmt, secrets mgmt, least-privilege, logging/monitoring.

Responsibilities

• 100% Hands On
• Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable AWS infrastructure using Terraform/OpenTofu
• Build and support cloud platform services across networking, identity, compute, storage, and Kubernetes environments
• Create and enhance automation tools and platform utilities using Python and Bash
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines with GitHub and Jenkins
• Build and execute automated IaC testing and validation processes
• Implement container security best practices across Kubernetes, Docker, and Podman
• Configure cloud-native services including logging, monitoring, security scanning, and secrets management
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, troubleshooting, and engineering standards development
• Partner with security, risk, and governance teams to support compliance and audit requirements
• Monitor system reliability, security posture, and platform performance
• Produce technical documentation, operational runbooks, and implementation guides
• Independently drive engineering work from requirements gathering through deployment and handoff
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity while maintaining strong security and testing standards
• Support ongoing platform modernization and cloud engineering initiatives
