Job summary

Alexander Technology Group seeks a Senior Platform & Security Engineer for a long-term contract in the greater Boston area. This hands-on role focuses on AWS infrastructure, IaC, Kubernetes, automation, and security in a production environment.

You will design and operate secure cloud systems, implement Terraform/OpenTofu, manage containerized workloads with Kubernetes, and collaborate with engineering teams to strengthen security across identity, logging, and monitoring.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, DevOps, SRE, or related roles.
• Hands-on AWS experience in production environments.
• Advanced Terraform/OpenTofu and Infrastructure as Code experience.
• Strong Kubernetes and container experience.
• Proficiency with Python and Bash.
• Experience with cloud security, IAM, vulnerability management, secrets management, and monitoring.
• Ability to independently drive technical projects from design through implementation.
• Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools with appropriate code review, testing, and security validation.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and support secure, scalable AWS infrastructure across networking, compute, storage, IAM, and Kubernetes.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform/OpenTofu.
• Implement cloud security best practices including IAM, least privilege, system hardening, secrets management, vulnerability remediation, logging, and monitoring.
• Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot Kubernetes and containerized environments using Docker, Podman, or similar technologies.
• Build automation and engineering tools using Python and Bash.
• Develop automated testing and validation for Infrastructure as Code.
• Use AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Codex, or similar technologies to improve engineering productivity.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, troubleshooting, documentation, and security initiatives.
