Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Platform Operations Technician Senior to join our Global Network Operations Command Center. You will monitor and troubleshoot the 24/7 Akamai platform, collaborate with global teams, and deploy automation to keep the distributed platform stable and secure.

You will work with a cross-functional group to resolve platform issues promptly, maintain documentation, and contribute to continuous improvement of deployment processes.

Qualifications

• 2 years relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree in a related technical field.
• Experience administering, monitoring and resolving issues in a high availability platform environment.
• Experience with Linux/Unix system administration and knowledge of SQL and scripting languages.
• Experience in network technologies and internet protocols such as TCP/IP, WAN and DNS.
• Good communication and written skills to articulate technical information to internal teams and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring and troubleshooting of Akamai 24/7 platform, network traffic, threats and alerts.
• Working in collaborative, internal and external cross functional teams to achieve timely resolution of platform affecting issues.
• Administering automated software deployments to the distributed platform to maintain and ensure stability and security.
• Ensuring platform issues are clearly tracked, updated and documented.

As the Platform Operations Technician Senior, you will develop and execute systems and processes to monitor and maintain Akamai's network. Working as part of a collaborative global team you will gain exposure to unique, large‑scale networks. You'll continually learn and develop your troubleshooting and deployment skills on some of the most complex network technologies in the world.

As a Platform Operations Technician Senior, you will be responsible for:

• Monitoring and troubleshooting of Akamai 24/7 platform, network traffic, threats and alerts
• Working in collaborative, internal and external cross functional teams to achieve timely resolution of platform affecting issues
• Administering automated software deployments to the distributed platform to maintain and ensure stability and security
• Ensuring platform issues are clearly tracked, updated and documented

• Have 2 years relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree in a relevant related technical field
• Display solid experience of administering, monitoring and resolving issues in a high availability platform environment
• Demonstrate experience of Linux/Unix system administration and good knowledge of SQL and Scripting languages
• Be experienced in network technologies and internet protocols such as TCP/IP, WAN and DNS
• Have good communication and written skills to articulate technical information to internal teams and external customers

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $56,200 - $101,200/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
