Job summary

Akamai Technologies is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join the Metadata Team within the Platform Communications group. You will work on distributed systems that underpin Akamai's global network, enabling fast and reliable configuration and control services for global content delivery.

You will leverage big data, network diagnostics and analytics to characterize performance, reliability and capacity, and help create test and simulation tools to support performance analysis across

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience in site reliability engineering or similar
• Extensive experience with Linux/Unix systems and scripting (Python preferred)
• Significant background in performance analytics and optimization
• Ability to monitor systems and applications for performance
• Experience with database queries or big data technologies (Postgres/SQL)
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Manage rollout and activation of new features and platform changes

In this role, you'll leverage your big data, distributed systems, network diagnostics and analytical skills to characterize performance, reliability and capacity of the system. You'll help create and maintain the test analysis & simulation tools, supporting performance analysis of the team's various metadata systems.

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Tuning systems to optimize performance and to operate more reliably
• Providing ongoing technical assistance in areas including model database management, configuration management, and simulation runs
• Managing the rollout and activation of new features and platform changes
• Developing monitoring tools and automate processes to help scale our systems better
• Troubleshooting complex application issues, service incidents, performance and availability issues
• Providing expertise developing code that provides predictive results from analytical trending and modeling

Do What You Love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
• Have extensive experience with Linux/Unix operating systems and scripting, ideally with Python
• Have a significant background in performance analytics and performance optimization
• Be able to monitor systems and applications for performance
• Have experience with database queries or big data technologies (Postgres/SQL)
• Have good attention to detail and excellent problem solving/troubleshooting skill

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $146,400 - $263,600/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
