Job summary

CPS4JOBS is seeking an Infrastructure Engineering Manager in Chicago to lead a team responsible for distributed compute infrastructure and performance-sensitive workloads. The role blends strong technical leadership with hands-on engineering to evolve the platform as business needs grow.

You will guide engineers, shape infrastructure strategy, and coordinate with other teams to deliver reliable, scalable systems. Expect on-call responsibilities and involvement in disaster recovery planning.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience engineering and operating large-scale compute or infrastructure environments.
• 5+ years of experience managing engineering teams.
• Deep Kubernetes expertise, including cluster infrastructure and application workloads.
• Significant experience operating physical server infrastructure at scale.
• Strong Linux administration and engineering skills, including experience with RPM-based distributions.
• Background supporting performance-sensitive or low-latency software.
• Experience optimizing IP network performance and working with routing.
• Ability to write Python for infrastructure or operational tasks.
• Experience planning for disaster recovery and business continuity.

Responsibilities

• Manage and mentor infrastructure engineers, providing technical guidance and supporting their professional growth.
• Contribute directly to the design, operation, and improvement of large-scale Linux infrastructure.
• Improve system capacity, availability, performance, and operational resilience.
• Work with internal engineering teams to understand application requirements and deliver effective infrastructure solutions.
• Assess and implement a mix of commercial and open-source technologies.
• Develop and maintain plans for infrastructure recovery and continuity.
• Share responsibility for production support, scheduled maintenance, and on-call coverage.
