Job summary

Bayer is seeking a Sr. Platform Engineering Lead in Chesterfield, MO to drive design sessions for data processing, storage, and delivery across multi-cloud platforms. You will evaluate new technologies via POCs and mentor a team of data engineers, while ensuring secure, scalable pipelines.

The role emphasizes leadership, collaboration, and hands-on engineering across Kafka, Spark, Airflow, and cloud environments, with occasional travel and the option to telecommute up to two days weekly.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a related field with 2+ years of experience building ETL pipelines for large datasets.
• Experience optimizing ETL pipelines for performance, security and reliability.
• Hands-on with IaaC and version control for data pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead design sessions for data processing, storage & delivery systems.
• Evaluate new technologies via POCs and present results.
• Oversee implementation of data solutions per design docs.
• Mentor junior data engineers and perform code reviews to improve quality.
• Travel up to 5% and telecommute up to 2 days per week from home.
