Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to design, build, and operate a multi-tenant platform for managing large-scale fleets of embedded devices in highly secure environments.

You will architect a decomposed microservices platform, implement secure inter-service communication, and build cryptographic trust infrastructure to support scalable security controls across hundreds of tenants. This role requires a TS/SCI background and a US citizen status.

Qualifications

• 7+ years leading design or architecture of distributed systems (reliability and scaling).
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one language.
• Experience mentoring, tech lead, or engineering leadership.
• Strong security-hardened system design background (PKI, mutual TLS, signing).
• Proficiency with relational databases (PostgreSQL) including RLS and access control.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop a microservices-based platform with fleet management, rule execution, device communication, logging, security, and UI layers.
• Design and implement secure inter-service communication (REST/mTLS and data streaming surfaces).
• Build and maintain cryptographic trust infrastructure with multiple certificate authorities and offline validation.
• Implement multi-tenant data isolation using ABAC with row-level security and query rewriting for scalability.
• Develop cryptographic integrity mechanisms for config and audit data, including chained signatures and tamper-evident logs.
• Engineer break-glass workflows with time-bounded credentials and multi-party approval, with audit trails.
• Ensure cryptographic operations use FIPS 140-2 Level 3 key management and strict isolation.
• Design reconciliation protocols where edge devices remain source of truth while backends project data.
