Job summary

Astronomer is redefining how organizations run Apache Airflow at scale. We seek a Senior Software Engineer to join Platform Engineering and shape the production infrastructure that powers Astro, Observe, and our IDE products.

You’ll influence design, testing, and deployment across a high-scale PaaS, impacting global data pipelines. Bring strong Python and Golang skills, deep Kubernetes experience, and a passion for reliability.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in non-abstract systems design and implementation.
• Proficiency in Python and Go with extensive Kubernetes exposure.
• Familiarity with observability, SLI/SLOs, and incident management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for globally distributed teams.
• Passion for reliability and operational excellence; low toil mindset.
• Ability to estimate scope, coordinate stakeholders and deliver.
• Experience with software development best practices, including CI/CD, version control, automation and debugging.

Responsibilities

• Own and shape how we test, build and deploy code in a high-scale PaaS.
• Collaborate across teams to design production systems and standardize technology choices.
• Deliver reliable results and maintain production systems with safe change management.
• Create and maintain comprehensive internal documentation for systems and processes.
