Job summary

Instacart is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Digital Twin Platform team to build real-time shelf understanding across our network. You will design and operate systems that fuse partner data, inventory observations, and ML outputs into a scalable digital twin, collaborating closely with ML and data science teams to deploy production-ready models.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a technical field.
• 5+ years building and operating large-scale production systems.
• Proficiency in at least one backend language (Python/Java/Scala/Go) and SQL.
• Experience with distributed systems, data pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Track record of shipping production software with reliability, testing, observability, and maintainability.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate platforms that provide real-time product shelf understanding across the network.
• Develop data ingestion, processing, and serving systems integrating partner data, inventory observations, and ML outputs.
• Collaborate with ML engineers, computer vision engineers, product teams, and data scientists to move models to production.
• Tackle large-scale, ambiguous challenges across mapping, inventory, logistics, and vision while balancing speed and quality.
• Contribute to ownership culture and continuous improvement, delivering impact for users and business.
