Job summary

Boston Research Journals is seeking a Senior Software Developer to own features end to end across our TypeScript stack, including a Next.js public site, a React admin portal, and an Express + PostgreSQL backend on AWS.

You will design, build and maintain capabilities for the public site, Atlas admin tools, and publishing workflows, while ensuring performance and reliability across production systems. Collaboration with editors and operations is central to scoping and delivering increments.

Qualifications

• Production experience with React and Node.js (Next.js and Express).
• Strong relational-database skills with PostgreSQL or a similar system.
• Experience owning features end to end: requirements, implementation, tests, deploy.
• Clear written communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain features across the public website, the Atlas admin portal and the backend API.
• Model publishing workflows into clean data models and APIs.
• Keep production systems healthy: performance, error budgets, backups and deploy pipelines.
• Review code, mentor mid-level colleagues and raise the engineering bar.
• Collaborate with editors and operations staff to scope work and plan increments.
