Job summary

Basis Theory seeks a Senior Platform Engineer to own the PCI-compliant, multi-region infrastructure powering our tokenization platform. You will manage AWS compute, data services, edge deployments, and a developer platform enabling a small team to ship safely and rapidly.

This role treats infrastructure as a product, leveraging AI tooling and deep technical expertise to reduce toil while maintaining security and reliability across the stack.

Qualifications

• Production experience owning cloud infrastructure as code, ideally Terraform on AWS.
• Hands-on production experience across AWS compute and data services (ECS, Lambda, EKS) and managed data stores.
• Proficient in writing production software in Node.js, Go, or C#.
• CI/CD pipeline design and ownership (GitHub Actions or similar).
• Knowledge of cloud networking, secrets management, and IAM/OIDC.
• Experience with AI coding assistants and LLM-based tools.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve our AWS footprint as code across regions and services.
• Build and operate the shared compute platform with GitOps and Kubernetes add-ons.
• Own the edge with Cloudflare load balancing, WAF, and EU traffic routing.
• Design paved deployment paths: CI/CD pipelines and environment promotion.
• Contribute to product codebases on observability, scalability, and architecture evolution.
• Drive platform architecture decisions balancing cost and developer experience.
• Own reliability with monitors/alerts as code in Datadog and multi-region failover.
• Operate PCI Level 1 compliant infrastructure with strict isolation and auditability.
• Leverage AI tooling to accelerate infra work and migrations.
• Collaborate with product engineers through pairing and design reviews.
