Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. is seeking a senior software engineer to join the Enterprise Integrated Systems team in a hybrid role. You will design and build platform capabilities, lead cross-team architecture, and drive performance and reliability for Splunk-integrated enterprise software.

You will work across on-prem and air-gapped environments, mentor engineers, and influence product direction while delivering scalable, secure solutions. Strong Go, Python, and Kubernetes experience required.

Qualifications

• Expert-level proficiency in Go and Python with production-quality software delivery.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent).
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience building enterprise-grade software.
• Experience designing distributed systems, REST APIs, microservices, and containerized apps using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong experience with CI/CD, Git, automated testing, performance benchmarking, and observability tools.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, scalability, reliability, Linux internals, and performance engineering.
• Experience leading technical design discussions and influencing architecture across multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of complex platform capabilities spanning multiple products and engineering teams.
• Drive scalable, reusable, and maintainable software designs that improve product quality and customer experience.
• Partner with Product Managers, Architects, and Development teams to shape technical roadmaps and influence product direction.
• Own critical subsystems through their lifecycle—from design through production support and continuous improvement.
• Drive engineering excellence through design reviews, code reviews, automated testing, observability, CI/CD, and performance engineering.
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar through coaching, design guidance, and leadership.
• Lead technical investigations, performance optimization, and root cause analysis for complex customer issues.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend architectural improvements that enhance scalability, security, and developer productivity.
