Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. via the Splunk Structured Store team seeks senior backend engineers to own end-to-end projects, design versioned APIs, and mentor peers. You will work hands-on in Go and related technologies, ensuring scalable, secure, and reliable data-storage services across cloud and on‑prem environments.

You will coordinate delivery with product, SRE, security, and engineering partners, contributing to roadmap and best practices while guiding production releases and postmortems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of related experience OR master’s degree and 4+ years of related experience OR PhD and 1+ year of related experience.
• 5 years of experience developing production backend services and versioned APIs in Go, C++, or another systems programming language.
• 5 years of experience designing and operating production database-backed services, with graph/relational/NoSQL databases.
• 5 years of experience designing distributed systems with consistency, replication, partitioning, routing, or failure recovery.
• 5 years of experience delivering and operating containerized services through CI/CD on Kubernetes in public-cloud or on-premises.

Responsibilities

• Lead medium-sized features and end-to-end projects through scoping, design, delegation, implementation, review, rollout, and production validation.
• Design versioned APIs and service capabilities for graph, key-value, and related structured-storage services.
• Remain hands-on in Go and adjacent technologies, resolve complex errors, and contribute to threat modeling.
• Coordinate estimates, specifications, milestones, dependencies, and remediation plans across teams.
• Use reliability, scalability, security, performance, and cost signals to guide design tradeoffs.
