Job summary

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) seeks a Senior Software Engineer to transform a legacy Tomcat web app into a modern, containerized microservices architecture. You will design, implement, and maintain core services using Golang and Angular while preserving functionality.

You will lead migration to Kubernetes, optimize CI/CD, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable cloud-native solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years hands-on software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Java development (8/21) with JSP/JSTL/CDI and Spring.
• Experience maintaining and modernizing Tomcat web apps and Kubernetes environments.
• Strong front-end skills: Angular, Bootstrap, CSS/SCSS, JavaScript, jQuery.
• Experience refactoring monoliths to microservices and integrating enterprise services.
• Familiarity with container orchestration and secure CI/CD practices.
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own large sections of system architecture and collaborate across teams.
• Drive agile development practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Translate complex designs into scalable microservices with Go and Java.
• Refactor legacy Tomcat application into cloud-native microservices.
• Document designs, integration requirements, and transition plans.
• Ensure security, reliability, and performance in Kubernetes deployments.
