Xcimer Energy is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design and ship the systems, services, and tooling that empower researchers and engineers. You will work across data pipelines, the data warehouse, dashboards, and HPC-enabled environments to accelerate discovery in a high-impact R&D setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, or software engineering.
• Strong fundamentals in software engineering; proficient in Python, Rust, or C++.
• Experience building internal platforms or tooling that boosted team productivity.
• Hands-on Linux and infrastructure automation experience (Ansible, Terraform).
• Experience with cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure) and HPC cluster exposure is a plus.
• Designs for reliability, observability, and scale; familiar with containers (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Mentoring engineers and leading cross-functional projects; strong communication.
• U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Build and own the internal developer platform as a product for researchers and engineers.
• Design and build services behind data analysis pipelines, data warehouse, dashboards, and research environments.
• Extend Open OnDemand; fill gaps where off-the-shelf tools fall short.
• Own AI developer tooling, its budget, and provisioning workflows.
• Set standards for autonomy while keeping the platform coherent and governable.
• Architect platform services, control planes, APIs, and data-pipeline frameworks.
• Translate requirements from Physics, Engineering, and Controls into scalable solutions.
• Ensure reliability, observability, and cost are design requirements.
• Support HPC clusters, job scheduling, and secure cloud infrastructure as code.
