Job summary

Equinix is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to enhance their developer platform's inner workings, focusing on tooling and environment bootstrap to improve developer efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of experience in software engineering, with a strong background in building developer platform tools, preferably within larger organizations. Compensation is competitive, with salaries ranging from 142,000 to 212,000 USD annually.

Qualifications

• Experience with Backstage or similar developer portal frameworks is a plus.
• Strong written communication skills required.
• Track record of reducing developer toil through automation.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the composable scaffolding engine.
• Define and maintain service schemas and workload schemas.
• Build the versioning and upgrade system for scaffolds.

Skills

Production experience building developer platform tooling

Strong in Go or Python

Deep fluency with GitHub Actions for CI/CD

Hands-on Terraform experience

Strong understanding of container runtimes

Experience designing and maintaining template lifecycle systems

Familiarity with schema validation tooling

Education

7+ years of software engineering experience

3+ years in a platform engineering role
