Job summary

Xcimer Energy, headquartered in Denver, CO, seeks a Senior Platform Engineer to design and ship the internal platform that researchers rely on. You will build services, data pipelines, dashboards, and developer tooling that expose HPC simulation to non-specialists, while mentoring engineers and balancing speed with robustness.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, or software engineering, including internal tools or platforms.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals demonstrated in production systems.
• Proficiency in Python, Rust, and/or C++.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading cross-functional projects.
• Hands-on experience with Linux and infrastructure automation (Ansible, Terraform, or equivalent).
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure) and HPC-related tooling.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Clear communication, including explaining technical tradeoffs to non-technical colleagues.
• U.S. citizenship, permanent resident, or equivalent status.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build internal developer platform as a product for researchers and engineers.
• Design services behind data pipelines, data warehouse, dashboards, and HPC interfaces.
• Mentor junior platform engineers and lead cross-functional projects.
• Set standards for infrastructure as code, observability, and system resilience.
• Collaborate with Physics, Engineering, and Controls teams to deliver scalable, maintainable systems.
