Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. is hiring for a Senior Platform Engineer on the Enterprise Integrated Systems team. The role blends on-site collaboration with remote work, focusing on building and scaling platform capabilities across Cisco's software portfolio.

You will own critical subsystems, drive architectural excellence, and mentor engineers while partnering with Product Managers and Architects to shape roadmaps and deliver reliable enterprise-grade solutions at scale.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience building enterprise-grade software.
• Experience designing distributed systems, REST APIs, microservices, and containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong experience with CI/CD, Git, automated testing frameworks, performance benchmarking, and observability platforms such as Splunk, AppDynamics, or ThousandEyes.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, scalability, reliability, Linux internals, and performance engineering.
• Experience leading technical design discussions and influencing architecture across multiple engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of complex platform capabilities spanning multiple products and engineering teams.
• Drive scalable, reusable, and maintainable software designs that improve product quality, reliability, and customer experience.
• Partner with Product Managers, Architects, and Development teams to shape technical roadmaps and influence product direction.
• Own critical subsystems throughout their lifecycle—from design through production support and continuous improvement.
• Drive engineering excellence through design reviews, code reviews, automated testing, observability, CI/CD, and performance engineering.
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar through coaching, design guidance, and technical leadership.
• Lead technical investigations, performance optimization, and root cause analysis for complex customer issues.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend architectural improvements that enhance scalability, security, and developer productivity.
