Job summary

Apple in Seattle is seeking a Senior Platform Software Engineer to join the Data Engineering Platform (DEP). You will build end-to-end systems—API, service, schema, configuration, pipeline, and telemetry—bridging development and production for data and ML engineers.

You will define deployment patterns, drive reliability, and shape the developer experience with CLI tools and documentation while mentoring engineers and advancing platform standards across teams.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience building backend services and distributed systems.
• Experience designing durable APIs, schemas, or developer-facing interfaces.
• CI/CD and release engineering experience with safe rollback across environments.
• Strong relational database fundamentals including transactions and migrations.
• Experience operating production services with observability and on-call processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate the Go services at the heart of DEP.
• Define deployment, configuration, and lifecycle patterns for platform services.
• Drive operational excellence with SLOs, observability, and release safety.
• Shape the developer experience with CLI tooling, scaffolding, APIs, and docs.
• Design core data and persistence models with durable schemas and migrations.
• Develop reusable AI-assisted engineering workflows and tooling patterns.
• Set engineering standards and mentor engineers while partnering with customers.
