Job summary

Oracle is seeking a senior IC5 engineer to design and operate large-scale streaming and messaging services across OCI. You will define architectures, ensure reliability, and lead cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance platforms.

You will mentor engineers, drive the technical roadmap, and partner with product teams to translate customer needs into scalable platform features. This role emphasizes security, observability, and global availability.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of professional experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• Deep Kafka expertise including Raft/Zookeeper/KRaft and production deployments at scale.
• Hands-on with RabbitMQ/ActiveMQ and AMQP queue semantics (FIFO, DLQ, priority).
• Proficiency in Kubernetes for deploying and managing stateful workloads.
• Proficiency in Java or Go or similar languages; strong, maintainable code.
• Experience operating at scale with debugging, tuning, capacity modeling, regional failover.
• Strong technical leadership, clear communication across teams and stakeholders.
• Experience with OCI/AWS/Azure/GCP and modern deployment frameworks like Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for Oracle Streaming, Queue, and Managed Kafka services.
• Define architecture, reliability, and scalability strategies for core services.
• Lead design for multi-tenant, scalable architectures with low latency and durability.
• Collaborate with storage, networking, observability and security teams to deliver features.
• Mentor engineers in distributed systems design and operational excellence.
• Own service lifecycle from design to deployment, on-call, and continuous improvement.
• Drive SLAs, reduce toil through automation, and improve fleet reliability.
• Translate customer needs into roadmaps for Oracle Streaming and Queue services.
• Influence platform evolution to support mission-critical workloads globally.
