Job summary

Oracle Health is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join the Clinical Applications Engineering team, focusing on modernizing provider workflows, inbox management, and clinical messaging within a scalable backend architecture.

You will own services end-to-end, build distributed systems, and contribute to platform strategy while collaborating with product managers and architects in a cloud-native environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 3-5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong experience with enterprise-scale backend systems in Java, Python, or other object-oriented languages.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices, APIs, scalability, resiliency, and performance optimization.
• Experience building and supporting cloud-native applications in modern engineering environments.
• Strong understanding of software design principles, data structures, algorithms, and system architecture.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain cloud-native EHR applications supporting clinical inbox, messaging, and provider workflow experiences.
• Build scalable backend services and distributed systems powering healthcare workflows.
• Own services through the entire development lifecycle from requirements gathering through deployment and production support.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and drive root-cause analysis efforts; improve observability, reliability, and performance.
• Collaborate with TPMs, Product Managers, and stakeholders to ensure requirements are understood and delivered.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to boost productivity while maintaining strong engineering fundamentals.
