Job summary

Gemini is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate the internal engineering platform. You will create self‑service tooling, automation, and durable abstractions that improve developer velocity and production reliability.

The role spans cloud, compute, storage, networking, and CI/CD across production environments. You will partner with multiple engineering teams to deliver reliable platform products, enforce SLOs and error budgets, and lead incident response with blameless

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software or infrastructure engineering with ownership of production systems.
• Strong software engineering ability in Go, Python, Java, Rust or similar for maintainable services and tooling.
• Experience operating distributed production systems, diagnosing failures, and ensuring high availability.
• Experience across cloud infrastructure, networking, compute, storage, and deployment platforms.
• Hands-on with AWS, GCP or Azure and IaC such as Terraform.
• Containers and orchestration: Kubernetes, Docker, with related networking and security.
• CI/CD design and automated software delivery, including testing and rollout.
• Observability: metrics, logs, traces, alerts, dashboards, and health models.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain platform services, APIs, CLIs, and automation.
• Build self-service capabilities for provisioning environments and deploying services.
• Create and evolve paved paths for service development and delivery.
• Design and operate cloud, compute, storage, identity, and infrastructure primitives.
• Operate core network infrastructure across clouds and regions.
• Improve compute, container, networking, and cloud foundations for production.
• Define and use SLOs, error budgets, and production readiness standards.
• Improve observability, alerting, capacity planning, and failure handling.
• Lead on-call rotation and postmortems to drive permanent improvements.
• Reduce toil and automate repetitive operational work.
