Job summary

Knowmadics is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design and implement backend and data platform architecture for space and defense capabilities. You will build services, APIs, and data-management components that ingest telemetry and export data for analytics and ML UX.

This hands-on role leads platform development across storage, databases, Protobuf/gRPC interfaces, and cloud-native deployments with security and observability baked in. Travel to Round Rock, TX may be required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building production backend systems.
• Experience designing distributed services with concurrency, retries, idempotency, and horizontal scaling.
• Production API design using Protobuf/gRPC with versioning and auth.
• Strong relational database knowledge and data modeling.
• Experience with S3-compatible storage and lakehouse/analytics systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of core platform services.
• Build versioned API and service contracts using Protobuf/gRPC.
• Implement and maintain database schemas for data management and state.
• Ingest and export large telemetry datasets and time-series data.
• Build scalable asynchronous workers and distributed job queues.
