Rocket Companies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to design, build and integrate server and platform infrastructure supporting core organizational functions.

You will lead cross-team initiatives, advance automation, and apply AI tools to accelerate build, runs, and documentation while upholding security and compliance. The role focuses on evolving from traditional infrastructure to a platform engineering model, spanning AWS, on-prem, and hybrid environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of workstation or server administration experience.
• 3+ years in systems engineering delivering production solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Confluence/Jira.
• Strong scripting/automation skills (PowerShell, Bash) and at least one higher-level language (.NET, Python, or Go).
• Solid knowledge of Windows and Linux servers, virtualization, and containerization (Kubernetes/Docker).
• Experience with AWS and at least one other cloud plus on-prem environments.
• Experience using AI-powered tools with attention to security and governance.
• Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD for infra and configurations.
• Observability tooling and SLO concepts.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of platform solutions meeting outcomes and non-functional requirements.
• Contribute to reference architectures and review designs for reliability, performance, and cost.
• Drive deep-dive investigations and root-cause analyses; implement guardrails.
• Collaborate with developers and clients to deliver Windows and Linux workloads (.NET).
• Manage and improve the engineering toolchain (source control, CI/CD, packaging).
• Design and operate solutions across AWS, Azure/GCP and on-prem environments.
• Promote safe AI use with data governance and prompts hygiene.
• Provide tier-3 support and participate in on-call rotations.
