Job summary

interface.ai is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to set technical direction for core systems and collaborate closely with leadership in a production, in-person environment in San Francisco. You will own architecture, APIs, data models, and security while shipping scalable backend services in TS and Python and shaping frontend experiences in JavaScript.

You’ll embed AI-native tooling and work side-by-side with product, design and data teams, solving hard constraints around latency, reliability,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering with production systems.
• Portfolio of work demonstrating design decisions and outcomes.
• Deep proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python; solid JavaScript.
• Experience in distributed systems, APIs, cloud architecture, observability.
• AI/ML engineering with LLMs; understanding prompts and value of AI.
• Ability to design under constraints: latency, reliability, cost, scale.
• BS/BA in Computer Science; graduate degree is a plus.
• Self-directed, proactive problem-solver; strong collaboration in SF.
• Willingness to be in SF office 5 days/week.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of platform services for AI products.
• Own end-to-end technical decisions: architecture, APIs, data models, security.
• Build backend in TypeScript/Python; contribute to frontend in JavaScript.
• Integrate AI capabilities into production systems (applied AI engineering).
• Define engineering standards: code review, testing, deployment, incident response.
• Adopt AI-native tooling (Claude Code, Cursor) in daily workflow.
• Collaborate with product/design/data in real time in the office.
