Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. is seeking a Senior Platform Software Engineer to own the architecture and operation of the control-plane and scheduling systems for the AI Compute Platform.

You will shape multi-cluster orchestration, tenant isolation, and GPU capacity planning within a Kubernetes-based platform. You will mentor engineers, drive IaC, GitOps, and CI/CD processes while raising reliability and throughput across the AI compute fleet.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience in Kubernetes-based platforms or large distributed systems with technical leadership.
• Proficiency in Go or Python and experience with platform control-plane services, APIs, Kubernetes Controllers/CRDs.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop platform control-plane services and APIs for multi-cluster lifecycle management and GPU quota enforcement.
• Own GPU capacity scheduling and multi-tenant isolation across pools, with training vs. inference considerations.
• Design automated capacity intake, demand classification, and routing tooling to place workloads on the right cluster.
• Develop automated remediation and improve system-wide performance for training and inference workloads.
• Build and scale Kubernetes-based platforms (OpenShift or upstream Kubernetes) as the AI Compute Platform foundation.
• Lead design reviews and set standards for controllers, Operators, CRDs, and Go/Python automation.
• Mentor engineers and improve cloud-native engineering practices and reliability.
• Drive IaC, GitOps, and CI/CD; participate in on-call rotation and postmortems.
