Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc is seeking a Senior Platform Software Engineer to own the architecture and operation of the GPU-focused platform control plane. You will shape scheduling, multi-cluster orchestration, and tenant isolation, while mentoring engineers and driving reliability across the AI compute stack.

You will design scalable Kubernetes-based services, leverage Go and Python, and contribute to CI/CD and GitOps workflows in a large-scale, distributed environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience building, architecting, or extending Kubernetes-based platforms or large-scale distributed systems.
• Proficient in Go or Python with a track record designing platform control-plane services, APIs, Kubernetes Controllers, Operators, or CRDs.
• Hands-on experience with batch/accelerator schedulers for GPU/AI workloads.
• Deep experience with GPU scheduling and multi-tenant infrastructure.
• Strong focus on reliability, IaC (Terraform), GitOps, CI/CD, and observability tools.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop platform control-plane services, APIs, and controllers for multi-cluster lifecycle and GPU quota enforcement.
• Own architecture for GPU capacity scheduling and multi-tenant isolation and placement logic.
• Develop automated capacity-intake, demand-classification, and routing tooling for workloads.
• Create automated remediation tooling to detect and repair failures and improve performance.
• Design, build, and scale Kubernetes-based platforms (OpenShift or Kubernetes) as the AI Compute Platform foundation.
• Lead design reviews and set standards for platform services, Operators, Controllers, CRDs, and Go/Python tooling.
• Mentor engineers, raise the bar on cloud-native engineering, and drive on-call readiness and postmortems.
• Drive IaC, GitOps, and CI/CD automation; participate in on-call rotation and incident reviews.
