Job summary

MetLife’s Global Technology team is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate governance solutions for citizen developers. You will implement controls across intake apps, recertification, DLP, Copilot governance tooling, and inventory management, partnering with architects and platform admins.

You’ll automate provisioning, policy application, and reporting, while owning data models and dashboards that show risk, inventory, and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, with 5+ years of hands-on development, incl. 2+ years on low-code/SaaS.
• Experience shipping production apps and automations on Microsoft Power Platform or comparable low-code platform.
• Scripting and API automation with PowerShell, Power Platform admin APIs, Microsoft Graph, and REST.
• ALM and engineering discipline: source control, packaging, deployment pipelines, environment promotion, automated testing.
• Translate governance/ compliance requirements into technical controls with clear acceptance criteria.
• Working knowledge of Agile practices: backlog grooming, sprint/PI planning, demos, retrospectives.
• Strong collaboration across development teams, platform administration, security and compliance.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, including design documents and runbooks.

Responsibilities

• Plan for additional platforms as citizen developer footprint grows beyond Power Platform.

The Opportunity

The Senior Platform Engineer designs, builds, and operates the governance solutions that keep MetLife's citizen developer platforms safe, compliant, and usable at scale. This is a hands-on engineering role. You write the code, automations, and data models behind the intake app, the recertification and compliance center, DLP policy automation, Copilot and agent governance tooling, and platform inventory management.

You partner daily with the Lead Platform Architect, who owns governance policy and platform strategy, and you turn that policy into working technical controls. You also work closely with Platform Admins, automating the tenant and environment operations they run today. Your scope will grow as MetLife's citizen developer footprint expands beyond Power Platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain governance solutions end to end across the intake app, recertification, and compliance center, DLP policy automation, Copilot and agent governance tooling, and platform inventory management, from technical design through release and ongoing support.
• Automate operations that are manual today, including environment provisioning, DLP policy application, access recertification, license and capacity reporting, and maker onboarding, using Power Platform admin APIs, PowerShell, and Microsoft Graph.
• Translate governance policy into enforceable technical controls, taking strategy, requirements, and platform risk priorities from the Lead Platform Architect and implementing, testing, and proving them in the tenant.
• Own the data and reporting layer for governance, including Dataverse and SharePoint models, pipelines, and dashboards that give the COE, federated teams, and leadership a live view of platform inventory, risk posture, and compliance status.
• Hold the engineering bar for solution architecture, ALM and deployment pipelines, source control, environment promotion strategy, automated testing, performance, security review, and non functional requirements.
• Partner with Platform Admins to define requirements, identify gaps in existing capabilities, and sequence work that depends on tenant or environment execution, admin operations, or platform configuration.
• Break features into technical stories with clear acceptance criteria, and take part in sprint and PI planning, daily standups, backlog grooming, demos, retrospectives, and release readiness.
• Set technical patterns for others by guiding onshore and offshore developers and vendor partners through design reviews, code review, and reusable components, and by reviewing completed work against goals and acceptance criteria.
• Improve the user experience, data quality, and workflow of governance solutions based on feedback from makers, the COE, and federated teams.
• Support UAT, release communications, runbooks, and operational handover to Platform Admins, and prepare delivery status and accomplishment summaries for leadership visibility.
• Build governance solutions for each additional approved platform as MetLife's citizen developer footprint grows beyond Power Platform, working with Platform Admins and the Lead Platform Architect to define requirements for each new platform.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent practical experience, with 5 or more years of hands on development experience, including 2 or more years building on a low code or SaaS platform.
• Demonstrated experience shipping production applications and automations on Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse) or a comparable low code platform.
• Scripting and API automation experience with PowerShell, Power Platform admin and management APIs, Microsoft Graph, and/or REST.
• Solid ALM and engineering discipline covering source control, solution packaging, deployment pipelines, environment promotion, and automated testing.
• Ability to translate governance or compliance requirements into technical controls with clear, testable acceptance criteria.
• Working knowledge of Agile practices, including backlog grooming, sprint and PI planning, demos, and retrospectives.
• Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills across development teams, platform administration, architecture, the COE, makers, security, and compliance.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, including design documents, runbooks, user guides, and stakeholder updates.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Copilot Studio agents and agent governance, or with emerging citizen developer and AI platforms such as Claude Cowork.
• Working knowledge of platform administration and governance concepts, including environments and tenants, DLP policies, connectors, role based access, and licensing.
• Experience building governance, compliance, DLP, or access recertification tooling and processes.
• Experience with Azure services adjacent to Power Platform, including Functions, Logic Apps, Key Vault, and Entra ID app registrations and service principals.
• Familiarity with data quality and reporting concepts across Dataverse, SharePoint, and Power BI.
• Experience coordinating delivery with onshore and offshore development teams and vendor partners.
• Prior experience in financial services or another regulated industry with formal audit and control expectations.

Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.

The expected salary range for this position is $110,000 - $140,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
