Kargo is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead architectural direction across Workflow, Self-Service Agentic Ad Buying, and Creative Hub. You will shape multi-year technical strategy, own costly architectural calls, and drive scalable distributed services with a focus on agentic AI integrations.

As the senior-most IC, you will influence engineering culture, mentor engineers, and ensure robust data ownership and integration patterns.

Competenze

• 12+ years in software engineering with senior IC scope.
• Hands-on experience designing and operating distributed systems at scale.
• Strong data modelling instincts and resilient integrations.
• Hands-on experience building LLM-backed or agentic systems in production.
• Proficiency in at least one high-performance language (TypeScript/Golang).
• Experience with CI/CD, containerization, cloud infrastructure, production debugging.

• Set and socialize target architecture across three teams, from legacy systems to scalable services.
• Provide architectural direction and unblock multiple initiatives.
• Own decisions on service boundaries and data ownership; say no when needed.
• Define how to build LLM-backed features, including evals and guardrails.
• Mentor and elevate senior engineers through design coaching and interviews.
• Identify shared patterns and infrastructure across domains to avoid duplication.
• Translate business strategy into technical strategy and assess technical risk.
