Job summary

Hims & Hers is seeking a Senior Staff Platform Engineer to set technical direction for our platform, owning architecture for cross-org infrastructure initiatives. You will lead critical, multi-quarter programs such as the Istio service mesh rollout, multi-region resilience, and the AI-enriched Service Catalog.

You will stay hands-on while guiding teams across the organization. You will define architectural patterns, drive testing strategy end-to-end, mentor engineers, and push for platform

Qualifications

• 12+ years in Platform, Infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE roles.
• Expertise in Kubernetes/EKS and Istio.
• Experience leading multi-quarter programs.
• Experience debugging distributed production incidents.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, TypeScript, or Java.
• Ability to influence without direct authority.
• Mentoring Staff engineers and shaping system design.
• Experience with AI-native platform tooling and MCP-backed APIs.
• Cost or infrastructure consolidation experience with measurable impact.
• Multi-region or high-availability architecture experience.
• Experience drafting RFCs and leadership-facing proposals.

Responsibilities

• Own group-critical platform initiatives across the organization.
• Define architectural patterns, golden paths, and platform primitives.
• Lead hands-on technical work in mesh and tooling.
• Coordinate cross-org rollouts and manage blockers.
• Own testing infrastructure strategy end-to-end.
• Mentor Staff and Senior engineers.
• Drive large-scale infrastructure consolidations end-to-end.
• Define metrics to prove platform investment works.
