Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Senior Capital Project Plastic Process Engineer in Stamford, CT. The role leads capital equipment projects from concept through startup, focusing on plastics processing like extrusion and molding.

You will evaluate capacity, develop equipment specs, and manage procurement, installation, and commissioning to drive growth and operational excellence. You will work with cross-functional teams to improve throughput, reduce waste, and maximize equipment efficiency while upholding

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
7+ years of experience managing capital equipment projects in plastics/chemical/industrial manufacturing environments.
Experience with plastics processing technologies such as extrusion, injection molding, blow molding, thermoforming, or similar processes.
Proven experience leading equipment procurement, installation, commissioning, and startups.
Strong understanding of manufacturing process optimization, validation, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience managing project schedules, budgets, contractors, and cross-functional teams.
Knowledge of OSHA regulations, LOTO procedures, machine guarding, NFPA, ANSI, and industrial safety requirements.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Lead capital equipment projects from concept through startup and validation.
Evaluate capacity and identify equipment investments for growth and excellence.
Develop specs for extrusion, handling, conveying, blending, packaging, robotics, and related equipment.
Prepare RFQs and evaluate vendor proposals, timelines and pricing.
Manage procurement, vendors, and project budgets.
Coordinate installation, rigging, utilities, startup activities, and production validation.
Oversee facility modifications to electrical, air, cooling, and material handling systems.
Analyze manufacturing performance and implement process improvements to boost throughput and quality.
Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering for CI and OEE.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, LOTO, guards, NFPA, ANSI, and safety standards.
Champion safe design principles throughout project execution.
