Job summary

Granite Construction is seeking an experienced leader to develop, manage, and optimize profitable construction materials operations. You will oversee mining, processing, stockpiling, loading, and distribution of aggregates and HMA, ensuring safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

This role requires 10+ years in construction materials, 5+ years in management, and strong knowledge of materials business and plant equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mining, Mechanical, Civil), Construction Management or equivalent work experience preferred.
• 10+ years work experience in a construction materials environment.
• 5+ management experience required.
• Proven knowledge of the construction materials business and experience in hot mix asphalt and aggregate plants.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and supervise plant workers associated with mining, processing, stockpiling, loading and distribution of aggregates, HMA or related materials.
• Estimate cost of materials and read plan specifications for accurate quotes.
• Determine manpower levels, inventory, equipment, and schedules to optimize plant operations.
• Develop and manage P&L budgets for material operations to meet corporate financial goals.
• Conduct weekly safety meetings to uphold safety standards.
• Analyze production and cost reports to meet production and financial goals.
• Administer maintenance and repair of plant equipment per corporate standards.
• Assess costs and value of plant equipment repairs and outsourcing to optimize costs.
• Develop relationships with owners, the local community, unions, and other stakeholders.
• Coordinate work with equipment and construction departments to meet project timelines.
• Mentor and train plant staff to attract, develop and retain top talent.
