Job summary

X-energy in Gaithersburg, MD seeks a senior engineer to support the Plant Support Systems (PSS) management and oversee a team of engineers. You will guide system requirements, design deliverables, and oversight of contractors to ensure quality, scope, and schedule across multiple projects.

The role requires extensive mechanical/systems engineering experience, leadership, and ability to coordinate with internal teams and external vendors. On-site work with up to 10% travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical or systems engineering, or related discipline.
• Typically 10+ years of engineering experience.
• Specialized knowledge in system requirements, architecture, design, data management and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Support design and development of plant mechanical systems and components using engineering principles and to applicable standards.
• Manage engineering resources across multiple projects and ensure qualified engineers perform tasks.
• Lead design cycle sprints and coordinate with partners and suppliers to deliver high-quality work on schedule and within budget.
• Track deliverables, assign resources, and ensure timely, quality outputs.
• Mentor engineering staff and promote professional development.
• Support business development by providing technical resources and engaging with potential clients.
• Develop strategy, methodology, and tools within responsibility area, including resource control and policy formation.
• Assess challenges and recommend best practices to improve products and processes.
• Exercise judgment in operations, product management, technology or engineering decisions.
• Ensure thorough documentation and design reviews and control of product configuration data.
