Job summary

Johns Manville in Defiance, Ohio seeks a Complex Plant Manager to lead two manufacturing facilities, an offsite warehouse and a customer service building. You will drive safety, productivity, quality, and cost performance while delivering on capital programs.

This role manages 600+ hourly and 60+ salaried colleagues in a union environment, shaping strategy, engaging teams, and ensuring reliable, high‑quality output for internal JM plants and external customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical field.
• 12+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience.
• 5+ years as Plant Manager or equivalent senior site leadership role.
• Proven ability to deliver improvements in safety, productivity, quality, cost, and employee engagement.
• Strong financial acumen with experience managing P&L and capital programs.
• Lean, Six Sigma, Kepner-Tregoe, or similar continuous improvement knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead Defiance complex operations across multiple sites and functions.
• Drive safety, productivity, quality, and cost improvements through disciplined execution.
• Manage union workforce and maintain productive labor relations while driving performance.
• Oversee major capital programs including furnace rebuilds, automation, and capacity expansions.
• Ensure regulatory compliance, environmental performance, and robust governance.
• Provide strategic leadership, align with JM values, and develop future leaders.
