Job summary

Evonik is seeking a Senior Plant Engineer at Tippecanoe Laboratories in Lafayette, Indiana. You will lead capital projects and provide engineering leadership across site utilities to improve reliability and compliance.

The role requires 5–10 years in plant engineering with knowledge of design, maintenance, and project management; experience in chemical or pharmaceutical operations; and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
• 5–10 years of experience in plant engineering, utilities, and/or project execution.
• Strong knowledge of plant design, maintenance practices, and project management.
• Experience in chemical or pharmaceutical operations preferred.
• Proven problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to influence without direct authority.

Responsibilities

• Lead small to medium capital projects through scope development, design, construction, commissioning, qualification and startup.
• Ensure project delivery meets safety, cost, quality, and schedule expectations.
• Manage change controls, develop engineering documentation, and execute system qualification activities.
• Provide day-to-day engineering support for utilities systems (steam, water, HVAC, power distribution).
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform root cause failure analysis.
• Develop and implement maintenance strategies to improve reliability and lifecycle performance.
• Monitor and report key performance metrics.
• Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability, safety, and compliance.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure adherence to cGMP, regulatory requirements, and engineering standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide peer design reviews.
