Job summary

SunOpta, Inc. is seeking a Senior Plant Engineer for its Midlothian, TX facility to lead development, design, and modification of equipment and production lines.

You will drive capital projects, improve reliability, and optimize utilities and energy use while ensuring food safety and regulatory compliance. The role emphasizes ownership, collaboration with Safety, Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Finance, and a strong focus on process improvements to reduce manufacturing costs and increase

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology or related engineering discipline.
• 8+ years of progressive engineering experience in food/beverage manufacturing environments.
• Experience with capital projects and manufacturing support responsibilities.
• Experience with utilities, chiller systems, cooling towers, boilers, wastewater.
• Aseptic experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides reliability engineering expertise to support maintenance and reliability efforts.
• Develops and manages the plant capital plan and budget.
• Ensures required licenses and permits are obtained and maintained.
• Test equipment to ensure contract specifications.
• Owns Process Safety Management program and regulatory compliance.
• Oversees wastewater treatment and liaises with authorities.
• Collaborates cross-functionally to meet production targets.
• Implements measures to improve machines and plant equipment for efficiency.
• Adheres to GMPs, safety procedures and quality processes.
