Job summary

Zekelman Industries is seeking a Process Engineer to drive operational excellence in our manufacturing operations. You will collaborate with manufacturing, maintenance and engineering teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, implement solutions that improve safety, efficiency and performance.

This hands-on role requires a mechanical engineering degree, strong troubleshooting skills and experience with CAD tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Ability to interpret complex mechanical and electro-technical drawings.
  • Experience collaborating with operations and maintenance to optimize equipment performance.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools (AutoCAD, Inventor) and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Develop best practices to improve production rates and product quality.
  • Implement process design practices from concept through start-up and validation.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and maintenance teams for continuous improvement.
  • Plan, manage, and execute project schedules effectively.
  • Justify, budget, and monitor CapEx projects.
  • Measure and analyze manufacturing data.
  • Create and improve process documentation and SOPs.
  • Support equipment assessments and travel to other facilities as needed.

About the Role

Zekelman Industries is seeking a Process Engineer to drive operational excellence through process optimization, productivity improvements, and quality enhancements within our manufacturing operations. In this role, you will collaborate closely with manufacturing, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, recommend equipment and facility enhancements, and implement innovative solutions that improve safety, efficiency, and overall performance. What You'll Do
  • Develop best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve production rates and product quality
  • Implement process design practices that meet internal and customer requirements from concept through start-up and validation
  • Build strong partnerships with manufacturing and maintenance teams to encourage collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Plan, manage, and execute project schedules effectively and efficiently
  • Justify, budget, and monitor capital expenditure (CapEx) projects
  • Assess manufacturing processes, collect measurements, and analyze complex operational data
  • Create, maintain, and improve process documentation and operating procedures
  • Support equipment assessments and customer issue resolution efforts through occasional travel to other Zekelman facilities
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Ability to interpret complex mechanical and electro-technical drawings
  • Experience working collaboratively with operations and maintenance teams to optimize equipment performance
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet demanding deadlinesExcellent communication skills with the ability to effectively engage both technical and shop-floor personnel
  • Proficiency with CAD, AutoCAD, and/or Inventor
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
  • Ability to analyze, evaluate, and communicate complex information clearly and effectively
  • Adaptable, resilient, and solutions-focused under pressure
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, accountability, and integrity
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley (AB) PLC programming
